The new space will benefit over 2,500 inhabitants of the community of El Potrerillo, Cesar.
Bogota, February 15, 2023 - In order to provide entertainment and integration spaces for the community in the area of influence of the La Loma solar park, located in El Potrerillo, Cesar, Centelsa by Nexans, the company of cabling solutions for the entire electrification chain, and Enel Green Power¹, business line of Enel Colombia, will build a community hall. This will be made from the wood of the reels used to transport the low- and medium-voltage cables that connect the La Loma solar park. The purpose of the hall is to encourage community interaction, as well as to create spaces for learning and the recovery of historical and cultural heritage.
Both companies have made the execution of this project a priority, which directly impacts those affected by the area of direct influence of the La Loma solar park, which will have 400,000 solar panels distributed over an area of 437 hectares. Once completed, the total installed power will be 187 MWdc, generating 420 GWh of renewable energy per year.
"With this initiative, developed within the framework of Enel's shared value strategy, we seek to meet the needs of the community, including social, economic, cultural, and environmental components. The partnership that we celebrate today with Centelsa by Nexans, also allows us to focus on strengthening the strategy of circular economy and sustainable construction, as we will implement actions for the use of materials generated in the construction of La Loma solar park," said Gian Paolo Daguer, Sustainability Manager of Enel Colombia and Central America.
Thania Ortiz, lead of the initiative in Centelsa by Nexans, said that "we are happy to contribute to the empowerment of the community. This community hall will generate long-term sustainable opportunities by providing continued access to services for the inhabitants and a place where they can integrate and enjoy healthy entertainment. Also, this initiative represents Centelsa by Nexans' efforts to take responsibility for our impact on the environment, and what better way than integrating and working with other actors in society, as in this case Enel Green Power and the partnership".

This initiative is made possible thanks to the efforts of both companies, as well as Bucarretes, a leading company in the creation and recovery of wooden reels and pallets. Previously, in alliance with Centelsa by Nexans, they built the "Eco Escuela" project in Lebrija, Santander, where two classrooms made from used wooden spools were built for the local community.
